ICG Partners with the Academy of Innovation in the Built Environment

The newly built Tocoi Creek High School is a new school in the St Johns County School District that will have a focus on early college programs. The early college programs include the Academy of Future Healthcare Professionals, the Academy of Leadership in Emerging Technologies, and the Academy of Innovation in the Built Environment.

In the Academy of Innovation in the Built Environment, students will have the opportunity to explore careers in the various fields of Construction Management.

We, at ICG, are excited to have the next generation of construction leaders so close to our Jacksonville and Green Cove Springs locations. We have the privilege of having Laura Smith represent ICG on the Advisory Board for the Academy. At the recent quarterly meeting that took place on October 19, 2021; the board members reviewed and recommended changes to the proposed curriculum that will be presented to the state. If approved, the curriculum may be used at other schools throughout the state.

With this new relationship, Smith had the opportunity to present a safety training presentation to the Academy students. During this presentation, Smith was able to touch on the importance of training, safety, the utilization of technology in the safety arena, and further explain the scope of work that ICG covers. We are grateful to see this new partnership taking shape and are excited to see the next generation come from this Academy.

The mission of the Academy of Innovation in the Built Environment is to “provide a foundation in construction management and emphasize project-based coursework designed to foster creative and innovative learning experiences.”

The Academy is set to begin receiving applications for next adding student’s to next year’s Academy roster starting January 6, 2022. For more information visit https://www-tchs.stjohns.k12.fl.us/academies/
